Light engineered oak floor in a modern open-plan Toronto home

Engineered Hardwood Installation

Engineered hardwood is real wood on a stable core, so it works where solid wood can't: over concrete, over radiant heat and through Toronto's dry winters. We install it glued down or floating, in condos and houses across Toronto and the GTA.

Services We Provide

  • Acoustic underlay that meets condo sound rules
  • Slab and subfloor checks for flatness and moisture
  • Removal and disposal of the old floor
  • Glue-down, floating or nail-down installation
  • Spec sheets for your condo alteration request

What Engineered Hardwood Does Well

An engineered board is a top layer of real hardwood bonded to a cross-layered core. That core moves far less than solid wood when humidity changes, so engineered floors stay flat over concrete slabs, radiant heat and the seasonal swings Toronto homes go through.

Check the wear layer as you compare boards. A layer of 3 mm or more typically allows at least one full sanding later, and 4–6 mm allows two or more. In a condo, the underlay matters just as much, because it decides whether the floor meets your building's sound rules. Our condo engineered hardwood guide covers it in detail.

Our Approach

How an engineered hardwood job runs, from measure to walkthrough.

Consultation

Step 1

We visit, measure, check the slab or subfloor, and go through your building's flooring rules if you're in a condo.

Select Material

Step 2

We compare plank widths, wear layers and finishes with you, and choose glue-down or floating to suit the floor and the building.

Select a Date

Step 3

You submit the condo approval with our underlay spec, and we book the work around elevator bookings and permitted hours.

Initiation

Step 4

The old floor comes up, the slab is levelled where needed, and the new floor goes down with transitions, baseboards and a final walkthrough.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does engineered hardwood installation cost in Toronto?

As a 2026 planning range, engineered material runs $4–9 per sq ft and installed floors $8–18 per sq ft, plus $1–3 per sq ft if the slab needs levelling. A 550 sq ft one-bedroom is roughly $4,400–$9,900 installed.

Can engineered hardwood go in a Toronto condo?

Yes. It's the most common hardwood for condos, glued or floated over the slab with an underlay that meets the building's acoustic rules, after board approval.

Do you help with condo board approval?

We provide the underlay and product spec sheets your alteration request needs and plan around elevator bookings and work hours. The owner submits the application.

Can engineered hardwood be refinished?

Yes, if the wear layer is thick enough. A 3 mm layer typically allows one full sanding, and 4–6 mm allows two or more.

Glue-down or floating: which is better?

Floating is faster and pairs easily with approved underlays. Glue-down feels more solid and is required for herringbone. We recommend one after seeing your slab and your building's rules.
