Flooring Installation in Vaughan & Woodbridge: Hardwood, Stairs & Pricing (2026)

Walnut herringbone floor laid across a large open living room

HBUENO Flooring installs engineered hardwood, wide-plank and herringbone floors and staircases across Vaughan, including Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg and Thornhill. Vaughan homes tend to have large open main floors, so at 2026 planning numbers of $8–18 per sq ft installed, a 1,500–2,000 sq ft main floor runs roughly $12,000–$36,000, with most projects in the $10,000–$20,000 and $20,000+ tiers once stairs are included.

HBUENO Flooring is a flooring installation company based in North York, Toronto, serving Vaughan and the wider GTA, specializing in engineered hardwood, herringbone floors, stairs and trim.

Does HBUENO Flooring serve Vaughan?

Yes. Vaughan sits just north of Toronto's city line at Steeles Avenue, and it's within our regular service area. From our base in northwest Toronto it's a short drive north, so measuring visits in Woodbridge, Maple or Vellore Village are scheduled the same way as jobs inside the city.

What's different about flooring a Vaughan home?

Much of Vaughan's housing is detached homes built from the 1990s through the 2010s, from established Woodbridge streets to newer subdivisions in Vellore Village and Maple. They share a few traits that shape a flooring job:

  • Large open main floors, where living, dining and kitchen run together, often 1,500 sq ft or more on one level.
  • Two-storey foyers and feature staircases, often open-sided or curved, with metal spindles.
  • Builder-grade finishes that owners are now replacing: carpet on the stairs and upper floor, tile or laminate on the main floor.

Big, connected spaces reward a single continuous floor with no thresholds between rooms, which is why wide-plank engineered hardwood suits homes like these so well. See our engineered hardwood service for plank and wear-layer options.

How do you plan flooring for a large open main floor?

Scale changes the planning more than the method:

  • Order from one production lot. On 1,500+ sq ft, small colour shifts between lots show across a long sightline.
  • Plan the plank direction from the front door or the longest view, so boards run cleanly through the whole level.
  • Allow for expansion across long runs, as the manufacturer specifies, so the floor isn't pinned at the edges.
  • Check flatness across the whole area. Subfloor prep, where needed, runs $1–3 per sq ft, which adds up quickly on a large floor.

Is herringbone a good choice for a Vaughan home?

Large Vaughan living and dining rooms are well suited to herringbone, because the pattern has room to run. Budget for it properly: herringbone adds 30–50% to installation labour and needs 10–15% extra material instead of the usual 5–7%. On a 1,500 sq ft main floor, that's roughly 1,650–1,725 sq ft of material to order, compared with about 1,575–1,605 sq ft for a straight lay. Our herringbone installation guide covers layout, and our hardwood flooring service covers pattern work.

Do Vaughan homes need special stair work?

Often, yes. Feature staircases in Vaughan homes tend to be larger and more detailed than a standard closed stair:

  • Open sides need returned nosings on every exposed step.
  • Curved stairs and winders are templated and cut step by step.
  • More steps. A two-storey foyer staircase plus a basement flight adds up.
  • Metal spindles have to be removed and reinstalled, or replaced. Railings are quoted separately.

At $150–350 per step, a typical 12–14 step staircase is $2,500–$5,000, and grand or curved staircases sit at the top of that range or above it. Our stair renovation cost guide breaks it down, and our stair renovation service covers matching treads to a new floor.

What about the upper floor and basement in a Vaughan home?

Many Vaughan homes from this era still have builder carpet in the bedrooms and upper hallway. Replacing it with the same engineered hardwood as the main floor, plus the staircase between them, makes the whole house read as one. Finished basements are a different job: below-grade concrete can be damp, so vinyl plank is usually the safer floor there, with hardwood kept to the levels above grade.

Frequently asked questions

Does HBUENO Flooring install floors in Vaughan and Woodbridge?

Yes. Vaughan is just north of Toronto's city line at Steeles Avenue and within HBUENO Flooring's regular service area, including Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg, Thornhill and Vellore Village.

How much does hardwood flooring cost for a Vaughan main floor?

At $8–18 per sq ft installed in 2026, a 1,500–2,000 sq ft open main floor runs roughly $12,000–$36,000, before stairs, trim and any subfloor prep.

Is herringbone worth it in a large Vaughan home?

It suits large living and dining rooms well. Budget 30–50% more for installation labour and 10–15% extra material for waste, compared with 5–7% for a straight lay.

How much does it cost to redo a grand staircase in Vaughan?

Stairs run $150–350 per step in 2026. A typical 12–14 step staircase is $2,500–$5,000, and open, curved or larger feature staircases sit at the top of that range or above it. Railings are quoted separately.

Should a big open main floor be one continuous floor?

Usually, yes. One continuous floor from a single production lot, with no thresholds between rooms, reads best in an open plan. It needs proper expansion space across long runs.
